In celebration of the newest addition to Power Pack cannon, Grow Up #1, we are proud to present our interview with June Brigman and Louise Simonson. These two wonderful ladies were gracious enough to join us for an extended talk.
We had the opportunity to talk about a number of topics including Weezie's inspiration for the crack story-line in Power Pack, June's awesome work on Captain Ginger and the changing world of the comics marketplace. We also found out a few surprises......and if you want to know what they are, you are going to have to listen to the episode. Trust me, listen to the episode, you will want to know the surprises.
Of course the majority of conversation was on Power Pack: Grow Up #1.

These two friends and co-workers have worked on many projects together and have nothing but respect for each other. And it was our pleasure to talk to them about this great book.

IT'S A-LIVE!!
Live.....LIVE?....ARE YOU KIDDING ME!!!!
Yup, we did a live show! It was in front of a small audience of friends at Champoeg State Park, in the middle of a 4 day, semi-annual camping trip we go on. The theme was Sci-Fi/Aliens. We felt that this fit.
It was really wonderful to do this in front of a group of friends. And it was very special to have my daughter join us "on stage"...even though she thought it would be very scary. She did great.
But what could we possibly be talking about? Well, how about the unaired 1991 TV pilot, Power Pack! Yeah....yeah....that is exactly what we did too. Oh boy!
Hey, at least we got to discuss it with our friends and family...and a fan. Jeff Polier came down with his daughter to check out the show. How awesome was that?

Issue one of the Crack Saga. This is the issue that Alex begins his crusade against the insidious drug....CRACK! But, how is our blonde boy going to find out about this drug and what it does? Why through his new bestest (and possibly only) friend Johnny Rival and his gang. What a nice group of boys.
I would like to tell you that this is a sunny tale, full of rainbows and unicorns, but there is not one equine looking creature around, and even the rainbow quota is low..which is impressive since one of the team can make rainbows at will.
What we do have is a lot of physical abuse against family members and friends, criminal activities, drug use and, overdosing, and homicide. Remember how this is supposed to be a "kids book?"
But we try to lighten the mood as much as we can, so don't be too sad.

All the way from the deep dark stories of cosmic Marvel, we are proud to welcome Al Sedano from the Resurrections- An Adam Warlock and Thanos Podcast. And we welcome him to this weeks edition of the adventures of Furious Boy. He hates drugs, he is a teenager, and he has super powers. Oh Boy....What trouble can he get into now! Short answer....a lot. But luckily he has brought along his family for back up....right....right?
Okay, wait a minute. I am getting confused. Isn't Alex supposed to be on a rage infused, one boy crusade against the evils of crack ever since the brother of his former long time rival, current short time best friend was killed by cops for robbing a grocery store
What, am I boring you now!!?
Well that is just rude!
Okay...in all seriousness, we continue our talk about how Alex has really gone off the deep end. He is sure that he can single handedly rid the world of crack. And he is just not caring who he upsets. And his attitude has a lot to be desired....but at least Jack is wearing a mustache through the whole issue.
We are also proud to provide you with your own recipe for crack, straight from our science corner. We did not know we had the recipe hidden back there, but after we cleaned out all of the rats, we found a lot of interesting stuff. So join us as we try to clear up some of the fog that probably exists after reading these confusing notes
Oh...also there is the super villain (?) team Trash....so yeah.... probably should have mentioned them.

Remember last year when Mephisto took over our podcasts......well guess what....He is back!!
And this time, Slim Hadey is not messing around! This time he wants to attack us in our dreams. So, he threw us into the Sandman books, and he sent us Sean from the Secret Wars and Beyond podcast to "suffer". He also cursed us with bad audio problems. What a jerk.
No really...that was his master plan. Corrupt us through quality. I really do not think he is playing with a full deck. It is like he is just howling at the moon or something.
Anywho...we are going to talk about cats.....

Would you believe, we covered another comic, one that just guest stars Power Pack?...And we are not just goofing on Elvis.....
OK, Andy Kaufman allusions aside....let's talk about this inconsequential little Giant-Sized book. I say that because it really does not further any Power Pack story-line...or any real story-line about Franklin Richards. It does not really affect X-Factor, or is at least never referred back to, to my knowledge. So why are we covering this. Why, to make you cry!
Well...Why not? It has the Pack doing some cool stuff, so why not?
Your still crying, aren't you....well, it pads out how many episodes we get to do, which means we have to sometimes bend a bit to make things work.
And the art is intresting.
And it has Lockjaw...so, bonus points!

Do you know what one of my favorite mini-series was?
The Fallen Angels from the 1980's. And, it seems appropriate that we are releasing this episodes which features the wrap up of Sunspot and Warlock's adventures with that group.
Ya see, they are kinda on their way home, and they meet up with Power Pack and wackiness ensues.
What kind of wackiness, and how much wackiness......? Well, if we were to tell you that, then you would not listen to the show. And you know you want to listen to it. I mean...Why else would I waste my time writing this?

You read that correctly dear listener! In our ever growing quest to invite all of the Portland area comic book pod-casters to Rick's house to spill beer on the carpet, we have managed to capture another one!
And if these sentences smell funny to you, that is because we are reviewing a strange little tale. Guest staring... Madcap?!?!
So I am assuming that you have never heard about Madcap, well I am not surprised. He is on the odd side of Marvel villains. He's a little to powerful and crazy for most writers to want to play with. But that will not stop us from hiking up our pants and tackling this nut, and answering the following questions:
Why did those guys just shoot Frank?
Why is Madcap cutting off his fingers?
Why does Four Freedom Plaza look like a Phillips head screwdriver?
Why does the Thing look French?
Why am I am crying?
All I know is that you need to listen to this episode, don't be a L7!

Back before crossovers got out of control, there were simpler and more contained Summer events, such as Fall of the Mutants. Luckily for us, but unlucky for the Power kids, Louise Simonson was writing Power Pack and X-Factor. So guess who gets to play with the adults for an issue!
So what are we talking about here? Well, some yahoo named Apocalypse decided to drive into New York for the evening with some of his buddies.....you know, the Four Horseman. And when they drive in, they drive in in style!
This issue has wonderful art, amazing writing, and some top notch scenes. Plus, it ties in perfectly with X-Factor #25. Seriously, some of the scenes are directly linked. And, this issue has amazing insults!
So don't answer that phone!
Turn on the lights!
